This Node.js v20 to v22 upgrade has some risks we should consider:

  1. V8 engine changes could cause unexpected JavaScript behavior
  2. Native modules might not be compatible with v22 yet
  3. The new ES module handling (require() can now import ES modules) might break our module loading
  4. Built-in WebSocket client could conflict with any WebSocket polyfills we're using

Before merging:

  • Run the full test suite
  • Test the VSCode extension on all platforms
  • Verify all dependencies support Node v22, especially native modules

The v20 to v22 jump is significant enough that we should test thoroughly before merging.

Renovate Ignore Notification

Because you closed this PR without merging, Renovate will ignore this update. You will not get PRs for any future 22.x releases. But if you manually upgrade to 22.x then Renovate will re-enable minor and patch updates automatically.

If you accidentally closed this PR, or if you changed your mind: rename this PR to get a fresh replacement PR.
